First up: The Survivor Awards |
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 2015 Benny awards ceremony! Today, the Survivor awards will be given out, kicking off the ceremony! Come back tomorrow for the comedy awards!
And now, here's your host: Max Benowitz, Sultan of Television himself!
Best Survivor Season:
Survivor: Worlds Apart
Survivor Cambodia: Second Chances
Our first award of the evening goes to Survivor: Cambodia. This season outclassed Worlds Apart in every category. Better blindsides, more likable characters, and stronger storylines all the way through. In the end, the all-star feel of Cambodia made it over before this competition began.
Best Male Survivor Player 2015:
Spencer Bledsoe - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Mike Holloway - Survivor: Worlds Apart
Jeremy Collins - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Rodney Lavoie Jr. - Survivor: Worlds Apart
Stephen Fishbach - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Joe Anglim - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Only two candidates were really eligible in this category. Stephen, Spencer, Joe, and Rod all played solid games, but only two of these men won. I stand by Jeremy playing the better game as he came through on more social connections than challenge prowess, being able to bring two good players to the end and still win unanimously.
Best Female Survivor Player 2015:
Tasha Fox - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Carolyn Rivera - Survivor: Worlds Apart
Kelley Wentworth - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Kass McQuillen - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Jenn Brown - Survivor: Worlds Apart
Ciera Eastin - Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance
Kelley Wentworth may not have won her second season, but she won in terms of having a second chance story. As a non-factor on her first season, Kelley came back as an under-the-radar player, opening the door for her to maneuver. She found two idols, played both effectively, and was the only one in the final six or seven who had a shot of being Jeremy. Plus, she proved the prophecy of Drew Christy correct.
Best Prejury Survivor Player 2015:
Peih-Gee Law - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
Terry Deitz - Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance
So Kim - Survivor: Worlds Apart
Jeff Varner - Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance
Vince Sly - Survivor: Worlds Apart
Woo Hwang - Survivor: Cambodia: Second Chance
As we all know, premerge players did not win or even come really close. Thus, to pick the best premerger must be more of a mixture of character and play-style, deciding who exactly is the best. Jeff Varner wins this in a landslide. In four episodes, he quickly became my favorite player of the season, giving incredibly entertaining television laced with decent game-play, despite going out so early.
